Solid Graphite Pencil With No Wood Casing

This is a pencil made entirely of graphite, with no wooden shell separating the writing material from the hand holding it. It functions as a regular pencil for sketching and shading, but because the whole body can touch the page, it can be turned, tilted, or laid nearly flat to produce a much wider range of marks than a standard wood-cased pencil allows. It exists for a tool that has barely changed in five centuries, taking one fixed assumption, that the core needs a wooden frame, and removing it entirely. By using up the entire body instead of leaving the wood to be sharpened away and discarded, it also closes the gap between what's bought and what's actually used. What gives it presence is the contrast between simplicity and reach. It looks like an ordinary pencil at rest, but its solid graphite form opens up a wider range of marks than its familiar shape would suggest.
